Asbestos Refurbishment & Demolition Survey
A refurbishment & demolition asbestos survey (formally a type 3 asbestos survey) is used to locate and describe, as far as reasonably practicable, all asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in the building and will involve destructive inspection, as necessary, to gain access to all areas.

What can we do to help?
A pre-refurbishment & demolition asbestos survey is primarily designed to identify asbestos containing materials so that they can be removed in preparation for refurbishment works.
We have the experience where it counts
Our asbestos surveyors can advise on the type of asbestos survey needed.

Pre-refurbishment & demolition asbestos survey
Pre-refurbishment & demolition surveys are intrusive and can be targeted to areas which may be affected by proposed refurbishment/demolition works. A pre-refurbishment & demolition asbestos survey will be required by your CDM Co-ordinator under the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 & control of asbestos regulations 2012. This type of survey is more intrusive than a management survey and should be undertaken alongside a project specific plan of work to ensure that the survey covers all areas planned for refurbishment.

Asbestos in buildings
Below are key points you really need to know regarding Asbestos in Buildings:
-
Asbestos only becomes a problem once it’s disturbed and the fibres airborne.
-
Any building built prior to year 2000 can contain asbestos.
-
ALL non-domestic buildings must be subject to an asbestos survey.
-
There is a legal requirement to remove ALL asbestos materials prior to the building being refurbished.
-
Preventing exposure to asbestos dust will protect against related illness and fatal diseases.

Asbestos law - what's the worst that could happen?
If you own or are responsible for a building that you are planning to refurbish or demolish and you fail to manage the asbestos correctly you could expose individuals to asbestos fibres resulting in a prosecution and imprisonment.

Asbestos Removal
Once the survey is completed the asbestos materials will need to be removed. As an accredited, health and safety licenced asbestos removal contractor we can safely remove and dispose of any type of asbestos materials you may have. Please see our Asbestos removal page
